How do I do this with my computer?

I am running a program that requires alot of memory usage and I would like to know if it is possible to start up my computer without unnescesary background tasks running (i.e. programs who use memory even while not in use). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

yes, go to start . in the run box(or search box) type msconfig.then click on the radio button that says start up.uncheck everything you do not want to start up.

you do not want.you should leave all things related to microsoft, your virus scanner(s), sound card, and graphics card.everything else can be unchecked.

then click okay and resart your computer when prompted

windows services is a little more difficult.its hard to tell what is need for your os to know what to start up if you uncheck things that windows meeds to run if you stop those services.
