When qualifying is canceled, how should the field be determined?

I know it is by owner points, but is there a better way? Is anyone else disappointed by today's rain out?

I think they should throw all the names in a hat, and draw for starting position from the qualified entrants.

Considering over one-quarter of the races have been rained out this year(9 of 32 races),it has become aggravating.I don't see any other way to determine the field besides the current format.

On the other hand,I am glad that Jimmie is on the pole and will have the first pit stall at a place where track position is so critical and pit road is horrible :)

If qualifying is rained out they should take the fastest practice times and go by them, almost always they get in some practice time.If done by points it should be driver points, who cares about owner points? The only other way i see is to run four heat races on the morning of the race to determine starting spots.Every one would draw for a starting spot in the heats and race to see who gets the pole. winner of the first heat race inside pole winner of the second heat outside pole so on and so forth.Four ten lap heats would not take long to run off and then a quick break and line up for the main event, just like the local short tracks. And one more thing, nascar should run a dirt track once a year, lets see who's got it all.

Again? Is the rain following the Chase?! Well, I think the way they determine the field is ok. ( Jr. will start 10th :D ) But I agree, as others have said, they should wait to qualify. The weather there for the next 2 days is: Sat. Mostly Cloudy and Sunny on Sunday.

    Oh well.......Go Jr.!!!!

Jeez they don't even wait long enough. They rain it out if it looks like rain. Qualifying dosen't even start till 3:30 they should wait it out just like they do a race give it a few hours. I think they just jump the gun on that. I don't like it

    >>Oh and to answer the question I think the way they line them up is fair. Points leader in front.

I think by owner points is a good way.

I say give it another day and if it stills rains, then do the owner points.

they should at least try one attempt the next day if the weather is better. that way everyone gets a chance to qualify.

By height? or hottest girlfriend? How about having a spelling bee? The current method has to be the fairest way possible.
