Samsung vs Sony 1080p LCD tv?

SONY of course. they are now the kings of LCDs. their BRAVIA picture makes them the greatest tv in town now. go for sony. trust me, you won't regret anything from the masters of electronics SONY. and please don't bring samsung into here. it doesn't even match sony by an inch. go for sony

Samsung makes the superior product today. S.M's information is from a reverse engineering performed many years ago. His information is old and out of date by his own admission. Companies do evolve over time. Neither Sony nor Samsung is the same company that they were years ago. In this case, Samsung has continued to improve their product line while Sony has struggled to regain the dominance it once held. They took their attention off the audio market and lost to Apple with the switch to MP3s. The same has happened in the TV market place. Sony got caught flat footed with the switch to LCD technology while Samsung's strategic direction was purposely set towards the LCD technology. Sony suffers today from these mis-steps.

Stephen M. Can i ask why a Samsung should never be bought? I have had my Samsung for nearly 2 years now and not once has anything gone wrong with it. Picture and sound quality are good and it looks smart as well.

As for the question in hand, the choice is entirely upto you. I have both a Samsung AND a sony TV and both are good but personally I like the Samsung one.

Samsung is the best for LCD TV.Excellent quality picture.

They describe it in a diverse way.... whether it is the comparable TUNER !! ATSC and QAM tuners are HD TUNERS and the two are area of the finished ATSC TUNER... ATSC tuners do "over the air" reception...QAM is a "Cable" tuner, yet QAM is a smaller area of the full ATSC tuner.. So whilst they say QAM....they might desire to purely state it has an ATSC tuner in it.... the two sound like a good television set, yet i'm leaning in the direction of the SONY for the reason that is a SONY...and that i know i will believe their engineering and layout....

Sony and it is not even close.

A friend of mine used to work for a TV manufacturer and part of his engineering responsibilities were to reverse engineer other manufacturers TVs. He always told me, never buy a Samsung.
