How do I clean a cast aluminum grill? When it was new, it was coated with teflon, but...?

now, its covered with burnt-on grease. Since its aluminum, I'm leery of using caustic chemicals. Its one of my best skillets, but one I have to hide out of site!

    REPLACE IT TEFLON AND ALUMINUM COOK WARE SHOULD BE DISCARDED WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THESE COULD BE FLAKING IN YOUR FOOD AND YOU DO NOT WANT TO EAT IT
