The bush administration has made sure a lot of our money went to defense contractors and the oil companies - I guess the republicans know that money comes from taxpayers....and not the rich ones

700 billion and more was put into nationalizing the banks.
Guess what, that's socialism too. And Jesus Christ was a socialist also.
Everything needs balance, if pure anything worked our government wouldn't be based on checks and balances.
And Obama's plan doesn't effect the working class, it's a rollback on the tax cuts George Bush did. So the real question is, does Bush, who put 600 billion more dollars into the war (which is a significant increase from the 400 billion + before), socializing the banks, and refusing to take money from the rich think money grows on trees?

No, he believes that rich people and businesses aren't "patriotic" enough, becuase they don't pay enough in taxes.
What Obama either doesn't know or ignores is that the rich actually pay slightly more in taxes than they did under Der Schleicht-mesiter Clinton.
In 1980 the top marginal tax rate was 70%, when Reagan got in it was lowered to 28% and we experienced the largest period of peace time prosperity in the world history.
THe poor don't pay taxes, yes taxes are taken out of their paychecks but at the end of the year, they get at least the amount they paid in back if not more.
I believe I heard this right from my Economics Professor: THe Bottom 50% of wage earners only pay about 10% of the taxes and a mjority get money back from the government.
Obama's plan is to dole out more welfare to even people who presently work.
If you give a rich man $1000, he will take it and turn it into $2000, then he'll take that $2000 and turn it into $4000 and so on and so forth.
Also knowing if you give a poor man, the same $1000, he's more apt to go spend it on stuff like grillz, lottery tickets, booze, cigarettes, etc and come back asking for more money because he squandered his $1000.

If "Grows on Trees" is a metaphor, then your parents are wrong. You know where our money comes from?
We call up the Fed, and say we want 10 billion more dollars. We give them 10 billion dollars in "Bonds" which is just an official looking piece of paper.
Then they print 10 billion dollars in official looking money, and give it to us, usually just by putting numbers in a computer.
That money goes to a bank, who lends it to people. When lended, that money stays in the account, and a new 9 billion dollars is created out of thin air on top of that.
How is that not the same as money growing on trees?
