What can you tell me about Earmarks/Pork?

the federal govt takes money from residents of the states via taxes and the states have to come hat in hand to beg for some money back for projects in their locale. Earmarks/pork are just a way of redistributing wealth from prosperous states across the nation.

Our system of govt allows for any bill to be amended with other smaller bills that includes these other projects called pork or earmark. This is just how our govt works. Its a way of getting support for bills to grease the system if you would to make bills flow. Some argue that this increases spending. But I argue that if they dont want earmarks or pork, then the federal govt should not be overtaxing the people and keeping their money in the first place and they certainly should not be pissing it away on things like Iraq and give aways to other countries.

There is a certain hypocrisy from the earmark pork complainers...which make them seem like they are for fiscal responsibility. thats not true..they are not fiscal conservatives at all..since for example they dont mind government spending or borrowing from china to spend. What their beef really is when they cry foul over pork and earkmark is with spending tax payer money on things that actually benefit the people domestically. They dont cry when we spend 10 billion dollars a month in iraq or give millions daily to israel and other countries.

If you want confirmation that something is accurate, why don't you google it yourself and be sure? This is not a library service. Earmarks are very common knowledge and should be easy to find. They are good for the economy but add to the debt.

Earmarks are bended corners on book pages that are used as a way to determine where you last stopped reading. OH, nope, those are BOOK marks.

Pork the meat of a filthy animal that sleeps and roots in its own feces.

If it benefits you, it's an earmark

If it benefits someone else, it's pork.

Sorry, but the definition is in the eye of the beholder.

And pigs are very clean animals. They always sleep in one corner of a pen and poop in the other. Never in the same place.

Personally I think its B.S.

Our elected officials should vote on whether they agree with the issue at hand NOT vote for it because a few little "goodies" are thrown in for their personal causes.

I think its harmful for everyone and incredibly expensive and wasteful.
