Need 4/0 cable Will 2 4's work?

I need a 4/0 12 vdc to run an inverter. Where I am It is next to impossible to find this size cable.. What are the possibilities of running 2 parallel #4 this should get me the same mil size.

Any thoughts would be of great value.

Update:

Added note, The 12 volt Cirt. will be 300 amps. This is only going to my Inverter. Total one way run is no more than 6 feet.

you need Parallel 2/0 to get the same ampacity, if you insist on #4 you will need at least 5 Parallell conductors and better to have 6.

No way that 2 # 4 will give you the same area as a #4/0.

#4/0 is 211600 CM, and #4 is only 41740 CM.

    2 #1/0 (105600 CM) should be close.enough and

that's a common service cable size.

You are almost guaranteed to be able to find #2, (66360CM),

and you'd need 4 of them.

At only 12 volts, and paralleling cables, do be

careful to keep your lengths close as drop

differences get more critical for any significant

    lengths of run.

Also you'll have to be extra watchful for corrosion

at those multiple battery bus connections.

Installing Parallel conductors is quite common. Just make sure they are the same length. Also use lugs or taps suitable for the use of the number of conductors you are wanting to use. I also want to ask, why in the world you could possibly need to use 4/0 cable on a 12vdc circuit? How much ampacity do you need?
