Colombia deserves it and so does President Uribe. The man has like an 82% approval rating (that's actually genuine) and they changed their constitution to allow him to run again. That's impressive in Latin America, but the man has been the best president in Colombia's history.
Colombia also is a country that is on the verge of becoming a major trading partner in the hemisphere. McCain's enthusiasm is well founded and isn't based on political motives.... supporting Colombia is very much in the interest of the United States as a strong Colombian government will bring greater security to the region and increase trade opportunities.
