stroke recovery/rehabilitation?
my friends mother just had a stroke on friday and it was in her brain stem. she is alert now but she can not move anything or speak. obviously the hospital is working with her to help her but what can her family do? they have been trying to give her images of her walking to maybe try and strike some nerve, would moving her fingers for her help?
are there any little extras her family can do to help her along?

The brain is capable of forming new pathways after a stroke. They should encourage her independence in every way. They should also support dietary changes (more fish with omega-3s, more green vegetables. They should also help her to not snore, if she is a snorer. Snorers face an increased risk of a second stroke.

Speak with the neurologist. He/she can offer more info than anyone on YA.
