If you lived through the 60s, Did you hate the Beatles?

I love the Beatles, but if I had lived through the 1960s, I was thinking that I might not like them because of all of those screaming girls.

What do you think?

Hi and I was a kid through the 60's and I really liked the Beatles. But, back then, I hated the Stones. Now I like the Stones better as they have continued to grow as a band. It is too bad that the Beatles never stayed together, but c'est la Yoko! LOL!

p.s. I still like to hear a Beatles song once in awhile.

my mom never liked them very much. she was about 3 when the beatles came to america the first time and when she was old enough to appreciate them, they had pretty much become hippies.

i would love the beatles if i had been alive, but would be upset at all the fangirls getting in the way. they seemed to get on the beatles nerves a lot. and it hurt a lot of fans to see the beatles change from the "cheeky lovable moptops" to psychedelic druggies. i can imagine i would be one sad puss.

but all in all i would kill to have been amongst the first generation of beatlemania. their music is always amazing- the early and later stuff. they must have been such a nice change for the world, so fresh and original. sometimes i cry because i missed the whole phenomenon. and my chances of being with paul. lol.

I was in that era.. All of that music you mentioned was brand new, it seems like music was being reinvented almost on a weekly basis back then. It was exiting and there really was some good that came of it. There was the biggest rights for women gains since the women's suffrage movements in the early part of the century. Racial equality and environmental awareness also. I like to think that the hippies helped to expose the hypocrisies of the status quo in a way that changed how the whole world thought on a variety of subjects. But there were a lot of dark and ugly things that were the result of those times. We were very wrong in our attitudes on drugs and sex. We were also wrong to believe that we could just plant a garden and live for free. Many unwanted pregnancies, abandoned children, and homeless people and many of us went too far and wound up in prisons. Still... It was a very exiting era to have witnessed.

I hated them when I was younger, because I just didn't get their music, and still don't get all of it. But as I became more of an adult I realized that some of their stuff, especially towards the end, was really quite inspired. So I guess I probably didn't really appreciate the Beatles until the 80s

my mom was a kid during the 60's and she was always a huge beatles fan, she even had a party on Paul's birthday with her sisters every year. Even if you were annoyed by the screaming girls, there weren't any girls on the records. i love the beatles now, and probably would have been one of those screaming girls if i had been alive back then.

If you didn't like them you have no melodic musical taste,or downright envious.

Check the charts then in they hey day, from the top ten they always had 4-5 hits.

Sure, they were inspired by artist before them, billy holiday, elvis, even jazz composers and classical.George Martin inspired them, hence the 5th Beatle.

Also listen to their not so well known tracks, sure there's some crappy ones;who has'nt got any? There will never be Lennon/ Mc Cartney -like composers, and as an added bonus George Harrison.History was made by them.Ist to play on a roof top, first to record multi-track,to use Indian instruments,cartoons..blah...

I like the beatles and I'm only two and a half decades old. As for the screaming girls, dress up like the beatles and they'll be screaming for you.

the screaming girls have nothing to do with liking or disliking the beatles. the music is all that matters. yea, the screaming teen age bopper girls might have gotten annoying at concerts and other places where the beatles might have appeared at, but like i said, they had nothing to do with the music.
