Why is progressive thinking considered, "Pie in the Sky" ideals?

Why is it considered ridiculous-communist-socialist-liberal- to think that all Americans deserve Health care, a place to sleep, Food and an Education. Isn't that just considered American???

Are there any other people out there that feel that every human in America should have those basic rights?

How is giving that to your people unconstitutional?

    Because greed trumps compassion. Selfish people can always find an ally.

    Because maturity consists of responsibility and reciprocity. If you don't have both, it's easier to be a conservative.

    Because some people cannot distinguish between good sound reasoning and reasoning that sounds good.

    You don't need to make sense to attack something, particularly on the Internet.

    Some people mistake their own good luck for good judgment and they look down on others who have not been so fortunate. The reason that the remark which was apparently [erroneously] attributed to Marie Antoinette;

    "why are the poor rioting?"

    Because they have no bread."

    "Let them eat cake."

    The reason that it has endured is because that is how the middle class expects how the royalty would respond.

    There is a whole kernel of truth in every cliche.
