I have a hydrangea plant that is healthy. Can you tell me what type of soil or media the plant favors?

Also, I want to cut part of the plant off so I can transplant in another area, how do I go about this?

I grow hydrangeas in a greenhouse and I use just a general purpose container growing mix (Pro-mix) to grow them in. For pink and white varieties, use an acidic fertilizer on them every few weeks, like 21-7-7. Blue flowered hydrangeas need a growing medium that's high in aluminum and low in phosphorus. I treat them with Aluminum sulphate (68g per 8L of water) a few times in the fall and feed them with 20-8-20. Be sure to make sure that the soil is well watered about an hour before you apply the aluminum or you may burn the roots and leaves.

You can't cut off part of the plant and transplant it you must move the entire plant.

Why not just buy another one to plant in another area?
