Thinking of upgrading my PC, HELP?
Hi, I have a Compaq Presario, I use it hell of alot!
I really need to upgrade things like RAM and stuff to make it faster because the antivirus and programs running sometimes "bottleneck" or whatever the phrase is.
Ok, so my PC specifications are:
AMD Sempron processor
3000+ (Whatever that is.....)
1.79 GHz, 448MB of RAM
Physical Adress Extention.
I'm running XP Service Pack 3 and I really want to upgrade my PC components or get a new, up-to-date PC.
Just wondering if anyone has any advice on what I should add to make my PC faster and better.
Thanks, Sam.

You can boost your pc speed just a bit by addin more ram.
That processor is weak, If i were you I would just save up money and buy an up to date computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo cpu.

in short convinced lengthy answer the P4 center makes use of a diverse center socket, the i3 wont in good structure also all 'i' sequence cores are DDR3 your center and board are DDR2. DDR3 and a couple of are literally not backwards properly matched. EXCEPTION AMD has the capacity to run DDR3 and DDR2 on there new cores also AMD dont want a board change when you're using a DDR2 in reality board. = ) "EDIT" in case your getting a clean construct do not bypass get pre-construct structures. bypass to a operating laptop or computer shop and ask for a quote for a operating laptop or computer, tell them your funds and the computer's significant use eg gaming computer @ 1000 $ or in case you recognize sufficient, get the factors your self and construct your own (more interior of your capacity yet no assure) you 'may' be in a position to reuse the PSU if the wattage is extreme sufficient 500+ and it has the staggering connectors, 4 pin or 8 pin or 2x4 pin cpu skill 20-24 pin atx connector and sata skill (molex in case you take advantage of IDE nonetheless) HDD continues to be usable to boot yet recommend an entire SATA construct as some forums now not help IDE

Get more RAM, I recommend boosting it up to at least 2GB.
Also I would think about investing in a better processor, if you want to stick with AMD you can get the AMD Phenom (Quad Core) 9850 which is one of the top rated AMD Processors available. I have one and it does work so much better than most CPU's I have tried.

Quick simply it depends on your budget and experience.
<$100 might get you 1GB RAM in slightly faster processor
Try EBay & Newegg.com for prices on parts or fresh comp
