    Gale Sayers, number 40.

Why? Name me another running back that came remotely near the elusiveness, the quickness, and ability that Sayers had. Watching old highlights of him, it's downright embarrassing how defenders try to tackle him. And last but not least, the guy made the Hall of Fame in five years. FIVE YEARS!! He only played from 1965-1969, yet his skills, and impact on the game were so astonishing, that even to this day, he's still in that elite group of Greatest Runningbacks of All Time.

  • Well if jim Brown being #44 counts in college, then it's him. Quite possibly the greatest RB ever to play the game

If not, the best option is Gale Sayers. While his career was cut short, he was electrifying in the times that he did play. A great return man as well. blinding speed on the field, and good make a guy miss

I have respect for all these choices here but I going to step off the bandwagon for a bit and go to a name that all of you have forgot. What about Mike Alscott yes Big Mike is one of the hardest running backs in NFL history. His career would have had more stats if it wasnt for Warrick Dunn im taking nothing from him. My pick is Alscott

    M.Alscott (1359car 5088yards 3.7avg 58TDS)

    (305rec 2284yards 7.5avg 13TDS)

If you are going according to skill I would have to say that Gale Sayers is easily the best. Unfortunately his career was cut short by injury.

    So i'd say John Riggins.

    11,352 career rushing yards (14th all-time)

    116 total tds

    Super Bowl XVII MVP

It has to be none other than Gale Sayers, whose number 40 is retired by the Chicago Bears.

    43 Darren Sproles

He is a beast at punt returning and a very reliable backup. OKAY so maybe he wasn't the BEST but he's the only RB i could think of haha. =)
