Is it even possible I could be pregnant (PLEASE HELP!!!)?

My boyfriend always wears a condom when we have sex and i am on birth control. One time when we had sex he wasn't wearing a condom and it was the first day of my "period week"(i take a pill every day for 3 weeks, then one week its an iron supplement and my dr said i didn't have to take it, also during that last week is when my period comes) so the day we had sex w/o a condom i didn't take the pill that morning because i didn't have to. Does the pill still work during that week?(i don't have my period all week so i sometimes still have sex when it hasn't come yet) also i felt like i couldn't go by missing that period b/c it seemed too soon, now i have my period but it's really light. i'm freaking out i'm only 19 and we only did it once w/o a condom and birth control is supposed to work!

Also, to avoid asking another question, if i do end up taking a home pregnancy test, can it read a false positive, i know it can read false negative, but i didn't know if the opposite happens too

If anything is confusing please ask me and i'll try to explain it better

From what you described, you seem to have followed your doctor's instruction thus most likely not pregnant. Light period can be due to many reasons so don't stress yourself out. Stress or diet pills etc can mess up your period.

However as for home pregnancy accuracy, they are usually accurate. Even though it can read false negative, it fairly rarely happens.

The light period is already a good sign, so if have any doubt do a home pregnancy test and contact your ob gyn asap if it reads positive.

Ok, first of all, yes you may be pregnant. Second, you are not protected by the pill during the week that you aren't on it. The reason for that is because there are no chemicals. It is possible to get pregnant even while having a cycle so that is not a good idea in anyway shape or form. Really light bleeding could be known as spotting and can occur early in pregnancy and at any time during the pregnancy. I am not saying you are pregnant, just saying you need to go to the doctor and get a blood hormone test to detect for higher levels of hormones that indicate the pregnancy. And as for the home test, they are better now then they used to be but they can most definitely read a false positive, had that happen to me, even the urine test from the doc read a false positive, wasn't until the blood test that we got the true answer.

You are fine--aka, NOT pregnant. As long as you take your birth control pills faithfully (every day, same time) then they are 99% effective. You are very smart to also use a condom but a lot of women only go by the birth control pills and don't get pregnant. The last week of the pill pack is just like vitamins. There is nothing in them. You are supposed to take a week off but the docs don't want you to forget to take your pills or loose track of the day so they add in the supplement. Clear??

Using a condom and being the pill does dramatically reduce the chance of getting pregnant. Without the condom, but still on the pill, helps but not as much as doing both but more than nothing. Neither are a 100% guaranteed to keep you from getting pregnant. So yes there is a chance you could be pregnant, best way to know is take the test.

No it can't read a false positive, u might could be pregnant, but it does take birth control a couple months to get out of your system, i was on it for 2 1/2 years, took a pill everyday and not miss 1 and i got a 12 week son being on birth control, so yeah there could be a chance, so if u miss your period get a test. good luck

I can't imagine you would be pregnant if you are on birth control and are taking them as directed. There is a VERY SLIM chance it didn't work but I would say you are not pregnant. You sound very worried though so go get a blood test and not waste your money on home tests since you seem concerned it would be a false negative. A blood test is 100% accurate and should put your mind at ease.

If you have sex, there is the chance of pregnancy.

Pregnancy tests usually don't give out false positives, if it's positive then you need to schedule an appointment with your doctor for a blood test as soon as possible.

I doubt you are pregnant, but be more careful next time (if you're not pregnant now).

First of all it only takes ONE time.. So yes, it is possible.

Second of all, Birth Control is just a means of preventing you from getting pregnant. It is not fool proof. So go get a home pregnancy test and try it out.

Source(s): If it is negative you should remember this as a scary lesson. being 19 and pregnant is no fun.

you need to calm yourself down and go get a pregnancy test. if you are old enough and mature enough to have sex, then you should be mature enough to handle what might come from it. no birth control is 100 percent effective.

doing it 'once' without a condom is enough to get an STD or STI.

be careful or you'll end up with something you don't want.

I don't think you are pregnant. Unless you did what my sister did. She took all the Sugar pills and didn't take the hormone and Bam she was pregnant. I have heard of false negatives, But I thing false positives are very unlikely!
