Can you consent to assault?

My husband and I are involved in S&M and D/s. But I was told that you cannot consent to assault. That if I ever was badly injured that they could charge him with assault even though I consented to it. What is the law in this matter? Can he really be arrested?

You have to be very careful.

If it is just you two just assaulting yourselves and have an agreement that you wont report this to  the police then nothing will happen to either of you. 

The only danger is that if either of you are crippled or even killed then you can definitely expect to face charges like Manslaughter

You can consent to the assault.  Actually if it went to trial thats the first thing that is asked.  However, he can be charged with other offenses if he willfully causes serious bodily injury.
