Saltwater Angelfish question.?
I recently set up a 30 gallon saltwater aquarium. I have 10-15 lbs of live rock, 2 false-percula clowns and 2 damsels. I am wanting to slowly add more rock, more fish and some corals. I would like to include an angelfish to my list of fish to get. The 2 angels I like the most are the Flame angel and the Coral Beauty angel. For those who have had experience with them, which do you recommend and what are some pros and cons of them? Thanks!

My tank is not over stocked and there is plenty of room in the tank. I have never seen a saltwater tank as empty as mine...they usually have a lot more rock, corals, AND fish. And yes, of course I cycled my tank.
I'm wanting to add a cleaning crew, a royal gramma, a mandarin green and an angel...I also want tangs but I will wait until I can upgrade. I may trade in my damsels when they get a little larger (that's the advice a few people have given me).

luckily you just picked two of the most reef safe angels (the 2 most that could fit in a 30 gallon)
but DO NOT GET BOTH!
they will fight relentlessly
the flames sem slightly more reef safe than the CB's, but are more expensive
both are really individual fish, some will never fight with anything ot nip any coral
some will eat everything in sight and never let any fish be..
it's really a spin of the wheel
you could get one for your tank as well as maybe 1-2 more small fish (<3'') maybe a goby.
i would only get either the gramma or angel, at least untill you upgrade
definitely hold of on the mandarin and tang for when you upgrade
the clean up crew basically lcean up as much poo as it makes so as long as there is enough to eat you should be fine adding more..
the gramma and angel both have very... bol, personlaities, i wouldn't add one and then add the other, i'd just wait
how long do you think it'll be before you can upgrade?

your overstocked as is. An angelfish is way too big for this tank they grow big. For what you want you would need a much larger tank around 100 gallons. Did you cycle this tank at least? if not be prepared to replace fish. Most people i know with angelfish coral and the whole shebang have 30+ gallon tanks as refugiums just for part of their filtration they also employ canister filters. Plus with 10-15 pounds of live rock you have drastically reduced the space in the 30 gallon. 2-3 clown fish/damsels i would say is the limit for your tank. Either that or get freshwater, a 30 gallon freshwater can support more life, my 30 contains 2 freshwater angelfish and some tetras and thats the most i will put.

Both would work in your tank but I would worry about overstocking the tank. I would remove the damsels if you want a dwarf angel, damsels should be in groups of odds... 3 5 7 ect....that is what I would do.

Angels will eat corals if you're planning to put some in so you should wait to decide what you really want. If a few fish die then you could put the angel but if you but the angel and coral together it will be a waste.
