the "fairness" doctrine......?

is this a loophole around the first amendment?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairness_Doctrine

Update:

it states Obama does not support it, BUT Nancy Polosi is chomping at the bit to put this up on his desk, Harry Reed is also eager to get it reenstated. This will not be the last we hear of this, be afraid....be very afraid!

Anyone that supports the fairness doctrine has no place calling themselves and American. There is a reason that Freedom of Speech is the very First Amendment. I hope Wikepedia is correct when they note that Obama does not support it, but I fear that it might be a ploy to divert attention away from it.

The Fairness doctrine would not apply to most networks, because they PROFESS to be neutral (and if you believe that I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn).

The fairness doctrine is no longer in force.

However, when it did exist, the rationale was that airwaves are a limited resource (back then, they were limited), so the government has the right to regulate them.
