Well, firstly, If you have any mossy plants in the tank I'd take them out to start with. Those provide great hiding spots from the fry, and it keeps a lot of them alive.

Truly any fish, including the parents should be eating the fry. If you want to add something to try to help you out a bit, something that is compatible and will be okay considering the bio-load would be a gourami.

You can also try bagging them and selling them online, or giving them into a pet store (They may give you money as well if you're lucky).

In the future, if you do find a way, make sure to separate the males and the females into separate tanks, or just only buy 1 sex.

    Good luck

how many guppies do you have? if it is only 2 a male and a female then you should get some female platys since the male guppy wont get the female platys pregnant and the platys WILL eat the babies, also get molly's they are harder to take care of but they get the job done as well. If you have 3+ guppies then your tank will be fine if you let them be. If the tank is left alone only about 2 or 3 will survive until full grown.

My first guppy birth only two survived and i did not realize they were there. My births after that i tried to save all of my babies and now currently hav e over 173 baby guppies... also about 13 platys... the platys are very hardy and will survive when very young. The baby guppies will dig under the gravel and bury themselves in a rock slide and kill themselves. About half get eaten before they can swim regularly. They are very susceptible to fin rot and numerous gill infections and can die that way. Also if they are not strong enough or stay to small for too long a time the will be eaten by there brothers and sisters also they will be sucked in by the filter.

If you get a snail it will prey on them when they are sleeping same with any of the small armored catfish.

If you don't want a bunch of baby guppies then you need to separate the males from the females. Guppies multiply like crazy. We have our male and female guppies (i work at petsmart) in tanks next to eachother and the males constantly somehow jump over and impregnate the females. Our females are ALWAYS pregnant.

I went through a phase were I just loved Guppies because of their colors. But it turns out, you need approx 3 females PER every one male. Thats a lot of guppies. Then, shortly after I started to noticed a lot of preggo female guppies. Next thing I know, I have around 50-70 Frys!!! (baby guppies) I didnt know what to do with them. Plus it takes forever for them to grow and then the cycle starts all over again and more guppies so no thanks!. You can separate the females from the males. Its very easy to distinguish.Female's gravid spot is noticeable since its dark/black. Males have their anal fins longer than females. You might want to consider honestly separating them. Having so many Frys annoyed me & I stopped liking Guppies that I began to give them free to Pet Shops---which they sell back to other ppl. I had Zebra Danios, Guppies, 1 Pleco, Black Skirt Fish & that didnt balance it out....

    Best of Luck

There is a way to stop this. Buy a tank separator. Put it in half so you will have 2 even tank sides. Add all the males to one side and all the females to the other side. If you don't know which are males and females, check this out. The females have and open anal fin while the males have it closed.

Get an "african" fish. They are bright colored and love guppies. They will eat them and you won't have a problem. I had a tank of them and when I went on vacation, I threw guppies in the tank and I did not have to worry about them while I was gone.

Guppies like any water pretty much .. they are now world wide and used for mosquito control. Some people take them to lakes or ponds. to help out the mosquito problems ..if you know some one that has a predatory fish you can sell them to the owners. I sugest you not lower the temp and possibly get a small mouthed cichlid or a dwarf ....I wish I had your problem in the past ... :)

I had that same problem so I got another tank which I've dedicated to cichlids & I feed the babies to them. There's nothing that you can do. Those guppys will put out new babies every 2 to 4 weeks if you don't seperate them.

How big is your tank? Most fish will eat baby guppies pretty quickly.

I suggest putting something that can eat some of the babies in the tank or just letting nature take it's coarse... (Leave the babies and just let some of them die naturally). Good luck!
