Refurbished Macbook Pro?

I am in the market for a new laptop and Apple has won with its great design and power. I was looking at the MacBook (Aluminum) 2.4ghz model. This was 1599$ and that just seemed a little over priced but, for leopards capabilities I was determined. I then looked at the Macbook pro and was even more jealous. I compromised and look at the refurbed macbook pro( 2.4ghz, 2gb ram and 8600gt 256mb card). It is cheaper and it has better ports like DVI and firewire 400! I just wanted to know if this was a good deal, I really want a 15.4 inch screen and this really has power.

Specs

Model-Refurbished MacBook Pro

Processor-2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Memory -2GB (two SO-DIMMs) 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300)

Display-15.4-inch (diagonal), 1440 x 900 resolution, TFT widescreen

PCI Express Graphics-NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB of GDDR3 SDRAM and dual-link DVI

Video-Built-in iSight Camera, DVI, VGA (DVI to VGA adapter included)

Audio -Combined optical digital input/audio line in, combined optical digital output/headphone out, stereo speakers, microphone

Hard disk drive-160GB Serial ATA; 5400 rpm

Slot-loading optical drive-8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)

Ethernet-Built-in 10/100/1000BASE-T (Gigabit)

Wireless-Built-in AirPort Extreme (802.11n); built-in Bluetooth 2.0+EDR

Input -Apple Remote; full-size, illuminated keyboard with ambient light sensor; scrolling Trackpad

Expansion-One FireWire 400, one FireWire 800, two USB 2.0 ports, and ExpressCard/34 slot

I just wasn't happy with the new macbook update and I never thought I could afford a pro.

Thanks

Update:

The mac pro I am looking at is 1250$ !!!!

    Hello!

I just received my MacBook Pro Refurb (Same one you are looking at)

I ordered it on Sunday Afternoon and the MacBook Pro 'Certified Refurbished' box arrived on my Doorstep this morning. The shipping speed was excellent.

To fill you in on this refurb you are looking at:

The 15.4" 2.4ghz Penryn processor was the previous iteration of the 15 inch MBP line. The processor has scored well in all of the reviews that I read prior to purchasing. Highlights were excellent processing power compared to the 15" with Merom (2.2's macbook pro's prior to this) and 15% better battery life. PCmag gave it top honors when it reviewed the book back in March, receiving an Editor's Choice award.

As far as Apple's Refurbished Quality. TOP NOTCH.

Mine arrived without a dead-pixel on the display and the chassis (aluminum externals/internals) are scratch free and show ZERO use. The keyboard looks brand-new. I can find absolutely NO signs of wear on my refurb.

Also, the battery that was included has only been cycled 5 total times.. so you're getting a nice fresh battery, too. You can verify that information using the 'Coconut-Battery' utility for Mac OS X.

If you're in the market for a new mac, and you like the previous generation (better looking than the new ones, in my opinion) you can't miss with this Refurbished Deal. They're running them for 1249 right now and have been for about 7 days, jump on it if you want that price!

I looooove Apple refurbs. I'll take a refurb over a new machine 9 times out of 10, including now. The new ones are shiny and new, but that's about all they've got over the old models.

I'm not exactly aure what your're asking but Macs are incredible! I have a white Macbook and it's just great so I'd imagine the other ones with more features and capabilities -eg, Pro, Air etc- are just as, if not better. Go for it! :)

eh i say its a pretty nice deal

But you could get a a laptop with about the same screen size ,core two duo processor running at 2.4gz or more, Windows vista premium, 4gb of ram, 9800gt or better video card (512mb or more), for cheaper than 1500

    hope i helped

Congratulations, although you don't mention how much did you pay for that powerful Mac pro., enjoy it.

That's a good price. make sure to buy a 2 year insurance.
