Any one know how much it might cost to do this? or where some good places in Cali would be for this?

Ok so here's the deal. this summer i'm planning on taking a tent, some clothes and shoes, and some money and driving down to california where i will camp for the entire summer. i've never been to cali, i've never done anything like this at all. i'll only be 18 when i do it, but i'll turn 19 over the summer. i know i need to start saving now to be able to afford food, gas, and entertainment but i don't know what a realistic amount would be. i don't want to starve while i'm down there you know :D i will probably have to get a job, but it would be really cool if i could simply chill for three months. i might be going with friends, i might be going by myself, but i'm going for sure. so basically what i'm looking for is a realistic cost for something like this and maybe some good places to camp out.

oh and if anyone has suggestions for something to bring along that i haven't listed feel free to put it down :)
