Why does everyone feel so entitled?
I always hear people complaining about medicare, jobs, education, ect. Don't get me wrong, these are all legitimate issues, however why do people believe the federal government should have to fix it all. It doesn't say anywhere in the constitution that the government has to give you anything. According to the constitution taxes are to support the BASIC operations of government, not "programs". What ever happened to original intent. Our founding fathers must be turning in their graves.
"shut up Republican, the laws in this country are there to benefit the ******* upper class and the corporations, how about creating laws and setting up benefits to help the under class"
"I care more about the ******* poor then the rich"
Typical ignorant democrat, why don't you name some of these so called law's. Besides there is plenty opportunity in this country for people not to be poor.

Because this government itself created a multi-generational class of entitlement seekers that had to do nothing more than stick their hands out and they were told the taxpayers would be glad to take care of them, and if they didn't, tough, we'll take it from the taxpayers and take care of you anyways. Consequently, our government has replaced the role of a traditional father in the home with social programs, freeing the father of any responsibility outside of creating more welfare dependant children that the liberal government is only more than happy to take care of, of course at taxpayers expense. Obama's plan to "spread the wealth around", will be a complete disaster, but if you really look at Obama,s voter base, it is nothing more than a continium of an entitlement society that has been once again promised that the government will take care of them. But, a funny thing happened on the way to the welfare office....taxpayers are going broke. So, there is a disaster looming on the horizon, and when time comes there is nothing to put in the hands stuck out, I submit to you anarchy will rule.

Del,
Congress hasn't paid attention to the constitution for generations. It's sort of a neat thing to quote from or to hide behind, but they really don't care about intent. Of course I'm being a bit spacious here, and generalizing heavily, for there are a few, here and there that had good intentions, but as an institution, Congress has become farcical when viewed through the lens of the Constitution.
New material here. I saw one post condemning the founding fathers over the slave issue. The Constitution was a long time coming because the founding fathers were so polarized over this issue, this despite the worlds acceptance of this barbaric practice during their day. A compromised had to be worked out to secure the nation, but slavery was clearly not embraced by all the founding fathers. Later, as I recall, a horrible civil war was fought with slavery as one of its leading issues, as well as States rights. Our nation as a whole was never very happy with slavery, which was why it was legally and bloodily expunged from our National fabric.

I don't think EVERYONE feels entitled. I do think people want to live in a stable country with a strong economy so they can get on with their business of working, raising families, etc.

The founding fathers also condoned slavery, didn't allow non-landowners to vote at first, and didn't allow women to vote. Really want to go back there? Oh and then they were still bring over slaves from Africa.
I think they would be more appalled at the corporate welfare and Wall St corruption in today's world than in taking care of other people. Do you realize that the lifespan at that time was about 45 or so?

well, they're turning in their graves, but not over education... well, maybe so, since we're so stupid.
the thing is, for a nation to function properly, a nation has to evolve. that's why we have amendments. the founding fathers knew that their solution wouldn't be perfect forever.
also, do you really want the alternative? would you rather states decide it all? if so, i hope you don't live in alabama, which seems to be last in virtually everything in any given year.

I know! People work for us every day, 8 to 16 hours a day, and then they feel entitled to a pay check? How ridiculous!

The liberal media has everyone brainwashed into thinking the government should care about you and take care of everything.

Our government and ideals have strayed far from the ideals this country was founded on.
And voting for a Socialist is taking this country one giant leap further away whereas Republicans are tiptoeing. Either way what are you gonna do?
