What instruments do you play -- Musicians?
I was wondering who played instruments on here and what instrument they played and for how long?
Me-
Percussion (drumline, drumset, timpani, marimba, etc.) - 11 years.
Piano - 10ish years. I had to learn it for percussion, but since I'm a music major right now.. I'm having to play it A LOT.
Electric/Acoustic Guitar - 5-6 years
Bass Guitar - 1 year (I learned it really fast to play in my college indoor drumline.. very easy for me to play)
I have to pick another instrument to play since I'm a music major so that's one reason why I'm asking this question. I was thinking saxophone, but I don't really know how hard it is to play. I know how to play a little trumpet and flute, but I'd much rather play saxophone.
EDIT! I've been playing bass for 2 years... not 1.
I have to do voice right now as well... I'm taking Ear Training and Sight Singing. It's a fun class, but I don't enjoy it as much as actually PLAYING an instrument. lol

Heya =)
I play:-
Flute - 4 years
Recorder (had to say it :D) - 12 years...though only when im joking around nowadays
Guitar - 2 years properly
Piano (fairly basic) - 1 year
Harp (fairly basic) - 1 year
Vocals (not technically an instrument but hey)- 2 years
I've done a bit of didjaridoo as well but just the basics...
Honstly, I love playing flute but in the end if saxophone is the thing that appeals to you then you'll be more passionate. Flute isn't hard really, once you've got your breathing right then you're set =)

Have played professionally since 1978, and all over the United States as a bassist, guitar player, and keyboard player.
At just 2 weeks shy of my 50th birthday, ive been learning drums. Have about 6 months practice on those, and hope to be playing drums on my writing projects within the next year. I dont get out and play professionally that much anymore...(6-8 shows a year)..but also have been noodleing around with the banjo, violin, and blues harp some. I dont consider myself to a player of those yet.

It's very possible to learn to sing well. You just need to know the right methods. Learn here https://tr.im/6Yy5T
Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing.
Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

honestly in my opinion, id say try the trumpet.. i know it sounds kinda silly but it can make lots of amazing sounds.. like the egyptians.. theres this kinda egyptian sounding music it can make an it sounds tons cool. but thats when they use that thing that (i forget whats its called) an the end of the trumpet.. an it kinda looks like a bowl but it gives it some amazing sounds. saxaphone is cool too. but trumpet can hit the soul better, in my opinion. because they even use it in the defence forces.. an theres the traditional songs it makes.. its just a cool instrument
