Why do people think being submissive means you have psych problems?

My husband and I are part of a 24/7 D/s relationship. But I've had people tell me that being a submissive means you have issues you need to work out, that no one would naturally want a relationship like that. But I do. So is there something wrong with me?

My friend and I wrote an essay about the art of submission some months ago, and while I can't access it right now, the gist is that submissives hold the power in a D/s relationship. It is the sub who sets the limits, the sub who chooses the master who deserves their subservience, and the sub whose happiness and observation of the lifestyle reflect well on the master. Also, submitting to someone whom you love and trust is not only a sublime way to express your love to them, but an amazing physical, emotional, and sexual rush. So long as you are Safe, Sane, and Consensual in all you do, don't worry about what the ignorant masses say.

Everyone has issues they need to work out. Your issues are that you enjoy being submissive. So in order to work out your issues you found a husband who likes being dominant. I'd say you've found the perfect cure for what ails you. Enjoy.

You must find out why you want, and, and like being controlled. If it is on a regular basis, than you probably have insecurity or even self-hatred issues, but if it is occasional, then you probably have nothing to worry about.

No there's nothing wrong with you.

Different people just have different likes.

Don’t listen to people just keep on doing, whatever it is you like.

Surely there's a reason you feel the way you do. And that's that.
