Would you (men) use male birth control pills if they were available?
It's been a while since I've posted here but "back in the day" there were a few fellas who were upset that women have more options for preventing pregnancy and guys can get stuck with whatever decision the woman makes. As a feminist, I'd like to see more men take responsibility for birth control. Would you (guys out there) actually use a pill or reversible injection contraception?
I found several medical studies citing Neem Oil as a powerful contraceptive that doesn't interfere with testosterone production. If your interested check it out. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=pubmed...
And don't say that feminists show you no love.
Really interesting answers. Thank you.
I don't think wanting birth control means you are trying to have casual sex. I'm faithfully married (been together 18 years) and we don't want any kids, ever, for our own reasons. Different strokes... you know.
Concerning the pesticide use, it's 100% organic and is what organic farmers use. I used it for my puppy who had "incurable" mange and the vet wanted to put her down. I got neem pills from the health food store and gave her one a day with a meal. Within a month all her fur has grown back. The vet couldn't find any mites and was totally amazed. She weighs 25 lbs so I'm guessing that one a day wouldn't hurt a 150lb+ male. It's packaged and sold for human consumption.
I'm not trying to push anything accept information. I am a feminist and like every other feminist I've ever met, I want people (female and male) to have reproductive choices. I also think we're overpopulated.

I would so use a birth control for guys. Condoms are good to stop pregnancy but i would rather have a 100% for sure contraceptive. plus its just a pill and as long if there wasn't any major side effects. I would not take an injection if a pill was available.

If there were a huge demand for a male contraceptive pill there would be several on the market already. But there's insufficient demand. Its easier for the men to throw responsibility onto the shoulders of their partners. Men don't need to worry about short term or long term adverse health effects, like "the pill" has for women. Other forms of female hormonal contraception have also found to be unsafe for some women. If men don't need to take the same risks they will avoid doing so (as they have done).

I think they would. Especially if they are considered nearly 100% effective. I'm sure men would prefer that to condoms when it comes down to just preventing pregnancy. In a monogamous relationship, it would be nearly impossible for pregnancy to occur with both partners on birth control pills.

Absolutely - I'd definately help promote (by example) male birth control options. However, most feminists don't want men to have 'equality' in this area while other feminists have the supremacy attitude that a man couldn't be trusted to take them ('cos we all know, it's always men bleating on about wanting a baby, growing up playing 'house' and so on, and threatening "if we don't have a kid soon, I'm through with this relationship - I need a family")

I personally wouldn't, don't need them. The baby production Equipment in my marriage has been surgically disabled...
In general, I think it would be a good thing if available, but I don't have a lot of faith that it would be used diligently... Just one more excuse not to wear a condom...

and Hello havnt seen you for a while!
Edit..ok this makes me kinda nervous..
it's also used as a pesticide, not that makes it totally bad and they might find a way to use it in the future that is safe. But I dont think the guys should be trying this one out yet...

It is called a c*m shot.
I'm kidding. Aren't condoms male birth control?

Hmmm, I think there should me more options for birth control pertaining to were men are concerned.
I don't think men would be as responsible when it comes to taking it though.

I'd only take medicine for an illness, there is too much risk that a male contraceptive will give me cancer or make me sterile. I have no problem with condoms though.

Would've thought that was biologically impossible, but it just goes to show.
People are finding more ways to have casual sex all the time.
