    1. Click the 'Page Layout' tab

    2. In the 'Page Background' Area, click 'Page Borders'

    3. Just above the bottom right hand corner you will find an 'Apply to' area. You can fiddle around with the options there to produce the border that you want.

    Good Luck,

    Do this:

    1. Select the text you want bordered.

    2. Click the Home tab on the Ribbon.

    3. In the Paragraph group, click the borders icon (lower right corner of the group).

    4. Click the Outside Borders menu item.

    Hope that helps.

IF the same as Word 2003:—

Click Insert / Text Box - places a resizable drawing canvas at the cursor; now click on the drawing canvas; this places a resizable text box on the canvas, into which you can now type text, give the box a border (use Format / Text Box) of any color / thickness... The Canvas can also be given a border, and/or fill color (select it, and use Format / Drawing Canvas).

Easier still, type your words normally, then select (block) the text, and do Insert / Text Box.

Personally, I find Publisher much easier to do this sort of stuff.... ;-)

    have fun...
