My throat hurts when I swallow...what should I do?

Over the past couple mornings, I've woken up with my throat hurting. It mainly hurts when I swallow saliva, but when it comes to drinking any liquids or eating food it's fine. I'm also dealing with a "stuffy nose" and right now it's only one nostril that's always stuffed.

What could these symptoms lead to?

I don't want my symptoms to get any worse and I don't really have any time to go see a doctor, so does anyone have any home remedies I could try?

Try just 1 of our old traditional ways 3 times/a day:

    - A slice of green lemon with some salt

    - A slice of ginger with some salt

    - Swallow a full spoon of honey

You will be better after 1-3 days (^_^)

    Good luck!

I heard herbal tea with lemon and honey works well. I take something called Fisherman's Friend. It tastes absolutely horrible, but it totally works. The only thing I found that works when I get a really really bad sore throat. You can probably only find at a drug store though. Good luck.

Sounds like you are experiencing hay fever or allergy like symptoms.

Saline nose spray will help with the stuffy nose and gargling with salt water will help the throat. You could also try some otc allergy medicines, take at night because they may make you drowsy.

this is absolutely crazy to me because every morning for the past couple of days I get the same exact thing, but only in the morning. Amd it seems like the only thing that cures it is time, and maybe just a little cough syrup....Amd if not that try sicking a lemon and drinking tea

rest and fluids are the most important things to help your body fight this. Get enough vitamin C. Try boiling some water and inhaling the steam. If it goes on for another week... go to the doctor because it might be strep and you would need medication for that.

Take lots of vitamin C, drink plenty of fluids, get plenty of rest and gargle with salt water (let it rinse around the sore area) or listerine.

this is a throat infection, complicated with upper respiratory infection ( stuffy nose )

you should take an antibiotic as a treatment

example: take Augmentin 1g twice daily after meals
