Would you relocate for your job for more $$$?

So I've been offered a promotion which would involve relocation from the east cost to the midwest. It's paying $30K more. Would you move for that much or should I try to get more?

That is a BIG promotion, so those saying get more money are CRAZY!!! in these times, typical raises are 2-3% of salary...no where near 30,000.

I say DO IT if you are young and unattached. This is the time in your life to take risks. Bank that money (remember, cost of living is much lower in the mid-west) and spend like your paycheck never changed...and bank the rest. That is what I did when I got a big pay raise. It was the smartest thing I have done. I upped my 401 k investment and have a nice retirement fund, as well as extra $ when I bought my first home.

Do it! You can always move back. Gooood luck!

I honestly think that $30K MORE is a pretty big hunk of change . . .

It all depends on your circumstances I guess. Family etc.

You could always try to raise the ante and see what happens - that;s if your willing to take the risk of losing it all.

You need to weigh all the options. Would it be hard to move from where you are because of family, friends and relationships? Or are you more than willing to try something new? It's more than just the money aspect that you need to look at here.

homes in the midwest are cheeper to rent and to own. make sure you are working for a good company that isnt going out of business soon.

I would try to get more, and if you can't then I would still move! A raise is a raise!

I would if I don't have any other complications like family and things.
