Did the McCain campaign get what they paid for in Palin?
Top campaign aides to Senator McCain are complaining that Sarah Palin is not sticking to the script according to CNN. But, they said that one of her main qualifications is that she is a maverick who took on the leadership of her own party. Doesn't he fact that she won't take orders from the official campaign staff mean that she's being the maverick that they ironically want her to be?

Sarah Palin exemplifies the premise that if you are vocal about your views you will be criticized. When it comes to politics Americans are so cynical, they won't let themselves be realistic and open enough to debate political views. Political discussions in the USA have become much like sports contests. Americans just want their team (or candidate) to win, any talk of the contrary invites a barrage of trashy talk and criticism. If Sarah Palin were the Governor of the state of each of the people writing in this answer group, I think their tone would be different. I think for the Republicans, they got what they wanted. The proof is the conservatives love her, and the liberals loathe her. Given the social climate today, I'd say they made a good choice.

CNN is full of bologna. The polls on CNN are bad off. CNN was bad off with there polls 4 years ago when Bush beat Kerry. Its not over til the last vote is counted. If McCain loses its cause he lost it, not Sarah Palin she is the reason he is still close. If McCain wants to win he needs to shut up and let Sarah Palin do the talking. Every time McCain loses points in the polls she gets them back for him. She is the reason I even went to vote. There are millions of voters just like me out there.

There was an article here on Yahoo about her not wanting to listen to her "handlers". CNN talked about it too. The fact that she's turning out to be a real maverick is ironic, isn't it?

Being a so-called maverick will only take a person so far. At some point in time, a person must be a leader. It's too bad that McCain/Palin do not understand that.

Definitely!
Palin has revitalized the Republican Party. If not for her, McCain would have lost in one of the biggest landslides in history. She gets chosen and crowds pack every campaign stop and the money comes pouring in. It may have been too little, too late, but Palin was the best thing that ever happened to the McCain campaign and to the Republican Party this year.

The way I see it she's not a team player in this
campaign. The mega publicity has gone to her head
and she is only out to further her own ambitions.
She is, by her own words, a pit bull with lipstick and I
think John McCain is going to be her first "kill".

Yup. An ignorant, disgusting, scum bag clothes horse bimbo!
I used to date women like that once in a while. I usually met them
at bowling alleys. They would usually forget who I was from time to
time. And I forgot who they were almost immediately. But they could list, in alphabetical or price order, every item of designer label clothing they had ever owned or even seen.

Sarah Palin is absolutely destroying the election for McCain.

Depends on how many were there for the gang-bang when they brought her in. Given that she's such a stupid cow, she was certainly bad, but she may have compensated in sheer numbers of the republicans who did her.
