  • Are there any honorable ways to get rid of a dog that you no longer want?

I mean, there's nothing "wrong" with him. We just don't have the time or the desire to keep him.

He's like, 7 years old, has had all his shots, and everything. He's friendly to everyone, children and strangers.

  • Sought a Job with a Different Employer and Got Docked?

I sought a job with a different employer and my current employer decided that the personal he days he previously approved were not approved. So he docked my pay. The days off had NOTHING TO DO with seeking other employment and I told him I can verify that.

Then he said I could continue to do my job but would be doing so as a volunteer until I am no longer a candidate for the other employer.

Is there a law against what is happening? How can I seek relief?

  • What do you think of a fairly new pastor getting into a shouting match with one of the church officers?

What do you think of a fairly new church pastor getting into a shouting match with one of the church officers at a general church business meeting where the two of them are shouting, "You're a liar!" "No, you're a liar!" back and forth?

  • Why would my 4 cylinder car suddenly dropped from 70 mph to 45 or slower?

I was using cruise control driving 70 mph (the speed limit) on the interstate in my Chevy Cavalier when I heard a bump in the engine. Then suddenly I could go no faster than 45 and the engine sounded like it was working really hard.

Mechanics and those mechanically inclined: any thoughts on why this would happen?

I had it towed to a mechanic very near home. Is it safe to drive on surface streets where the speed limit is 35 or less, until my mechanic can get to it?

  • Kelly Blue Book Value?

If the Kelly Blue Book says the value of a car is $2000 based on year/make/model/mileage and the seller has just installed a new engine, should the price of the engine be added to the value of the car?

  • Is it likely that this person had diabetes?

The son of a neighbor died suddenly last week. It was reported that he was found passed out in his hotel room. It was also reported that he had passed out two weeks prior to that with no explanation given. Is it possible that this mildly overweight 34 year old man who had a family history of diabetes had diabetes without knowing it, or that he was not taking care of his problem properly?

  • What questions might be asked of a person seeking to be instructor of a high school color guard?

A friend of mine will be interviewing to be a high school color guard director. What questions might she expect to be asked?

  • Do I owe this person anything? If so how much?

So I am a teacher teaching my choir. A student in the class comes with a camera telling me that he was given this camera by Mrs. Jones, the yearbook advisor, and told he was to take a picture of the choir for the yearbook. He and I line up the shot, then he turns the camera over to me (after all, he's in the choir. If it's to be a picture of the "choir" then he needs to be in the picture, too.)

The kids are saying that I did it wrong and I think the picture was all right. So the student takes a candid picture of some choir members, and I say "let me see that" (so that I can see the difference between the picture I took and the one he took). So he hands me the camera and as I am trying to get a good look at the picture, the camera slips out of my hand and lands on the floor. Now the telescopic lense won't retract like it was expected to.

The bell rings: class change. I no more than get the next class almost settled when the yearbook teacher calls me screaming about how I broke her $300 camera and I now owe her $300 or a new camera that she has been loaning out for a week without incident for students on the yearbook staff to take pictures of different groups.

Then Mrs. Jones sends me an email with a link for the camera demanding that I give her $300 or replace the camera and "what were you doing handling the camera anyway?". I reply by explaining what I stated above.

Her response to my response was to accuse me of being a deadbeat who she expects to make a federal case about something so trivial as a $300 camera. "So just forget about it."

  • What exactly did Kobe Bryant do this week that "everyone" is supposed to know about?

Someone this morning was talking to a group of us this morning and said "Well, everybody knows what Kobe Bryant did this past week..." and I felt like I was the only one who didn't know. So, can someone tell me what he did that "everyone" is supposed to know? Thanks.

  • Does training civilians how to respond in an air disaster or emergeny make sense?

Since the last terror attempt was put down by the passengers, and since we know of several other incidents (including Flight 93) where the civilian passengers were instrumental in preventing an even worse disaster, how about the government sponsoring classes to teach frequent flyers who are willing to be trained how to respond properly in an air emergency until the proper authorities are able to take over? This is not intended to replace air marshalls any more than CPR classes were intended to replace doctors and EMTs, but simply a recognition that civilian response is an important but seemingly overlooked remedy to airline hazards.

They show us how to operate the seatbelts at the beginning of every flight. How about showing us reasonable things to do in case it becomes obvious that someone is about to do something harmful?

  • The City of Los Angeles wants to complain about the cost the Michael Jackson memorial, yet?

They do a poor, poor job of publicizing how individuals can contribute money to help. Where's the website? What's the 800 number? What's the address to send our checks to?

  • Can anyone show evidence that Obama was born anyplace other than the USA?

On the one hand, we have an authentic birth certificate (which on close examination says that he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA) that has been validated by the State of Hawaii. But, on the other hand, there is all this talk of his paternal grandmother "remembering" his birth in Kenya. But, no one has shown any authentification or genuine corroboration of this "fact." If anyone has this corroboration, please tell about it and please show it or show the link.

  • Does Illinois have something like the 25th Amendment, whereby Gov. Blagojevich could temporarily step aside?

while the Lt. Governor becomes acting governor while Blagojevich "clears" his name as promised. If there is such a provision, has someone suggested it to him? Or, can the governor's cabinet require him to do it like the president's cabinet can under the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution?

BTW, I don't think he can clear his name. But, he has the right to try. Paralyzing state government in the process is wrong, however.

  • What does the future hold for Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska?

Will he have to go to jail, resign from the Senate, be removed from the Senate by his colleagues, or be defeated in the recount? His situation presents an interesting set of possibilities, including the possibility of Gov. Sarah Palin appointing herself to the Senate and establishing a base for a 2012 run for the presidency. Opinions please.

  • Did the McCain campaign get what they paid for in Palin?

Top campaign aides to Senator McCain are complaining that Sarah Palin is not sticking to the script according to CNN. But, they said that one of her main qualifications is that she is a maverick who took on the leadership of her own party. Doesn't he fact that she won't take orders from the official campaign staff mean that she's being the maverick that they ironically want her to be?
