Sought a Job with a Different Employer and Got Docked?

I sought a job with a different employer and my current employer decided that the personal he days he previously approved were not approved. So he docked my pay. The days off had NOTHING TO DO with seeking other employment and I told him I can verify that.

Then he said I could continue to do my job but would be doing so as a volunteer until I am no longer a candidate for the other employer.

Is there a law against what is happening? How can I seek relief?

He doesn't have to give you the personal days, but legally has to pay you for any hours you work.

    So he fired you?

Contact unemployment compensation and your labor relations agency (state or region).

Do you have a clause against competition in your employment agreement? When you signed up for the current job, did you agree not to work for competition?
