Why does my right turn signal work and my left doesn't...?

2003 Pontiac Montana Turn Signals. Headlights off...Right side works and the Left works but causes the shift selector light to blink. Headlights ON...Right works fine but Left does not blink. While the headlights are on also...both right and left turn signals stay on and don't turn off.

I have replaced the signal flasher module and all bulbs. Any ideas.....HELP!

did you get the left side bulb in there correctly? IT is shorting between the blinker and taillight/parkinglight circuit which is making your shift selector light blink (and all of your parking lights and dash illumination lights)

When your headlights are ON and you are looking at the lights, is the left one on bright ALL the time?

Parking lights are dim, turn signal lights are BRIGHT.

Also, what is happening on the rear lights??

I'm thinking that you might have a defective bulb socket. On the side not working (It mostly happens in the rear,BTW) The bulb socket is shorting out or lost it's ground. I've seen It happen and worked on just such a problem. It might be the signal switch on/in the steering column but I wouldn't go there first.Too expensive. The sockets are easily changed and relatively inexpensive. Good Luck The biggest tip you gave for me is the dash indicator stays on. That tells me It is most likely a bulb socket.

go into the column at the signal switch. It wouldn't be the first time that there was a wire rubbing in there. Suggest you get a Haynes manual for the car before you start.

Bad ground connection - most likely on the front left lamp assembly.

    Sounds like a bad ground.

It's the multi-switch assy in the steering column. That is if the 4ways work ok.
