Sounds like the coil ballast resistor has failed or failing, this unit allows 12 volts to get to the coil during cranking, but reduces voltage to around 8 volts running.
Once the spark is lost the fuel system will sense this and shut itself down to prevent flooding.
Prove the system by running a direct link from battery positive to the coil SW terminal and then try to start the engine - if engine runs - ballast or circuit fault.

check it for low fuel preasure.....my moneys on that...lovely engines...
