How does America justify bombing Syria?

How does America justify bombing Syria when Syria has remained neutral throughout the conflict, even taking in a few million Iraqi refugees? Granted, there were claims that Syria "allowed" militants to travel into Iraq, but at the same time Iraqi officials stated that they're wasn't much of a problem anymore with militants coming in from Iran and Syria. Besides, in America, illegal immigrants cross over the border in masses every day- how can America, a country with many times the resources and manpower of the much small Syria- attack Syria for something they can't do themselves? And why did it have to be civilians? Surely a few guys, a woman, and four children weren't a threat to US or Iraqi security...

The 'top contributer' Uncle John is calling for the killing of people simply because they are of a certain nationality. I've reported him comment as violating the rules and ethics of yahoo answers but it will not proceed without one or more people also reporting his answering. So I encourage people to do so in order to prevent disgusting and vile comments such as his becoming commonplace here.

Of I think the raid on Syria was terrible, but it was also confusing. Why would they attack when they know Syria isn't a threat? Could they be looking for retaliation by a weaker Middle East power right before the US elections so that McCain, the Republican will have a greater standing in the election!?! His whole campaign will be helped by a security problem for America, and this seems the best way to fabricate one while the Republicans are still in power. This is the best justification I can see for this horrible action in Syria.

And lastly... not all Americans support this! Some are well informed and oppose their military by protesting, organizing, etc. I'd like everyone to recognize that.

It looks like many people were trying to justify the attack on Syria with "facts".

    What is a fact?

    1. The U.S. military entered Syria and shot some people = fact

    2. The reason to enter Syria was to after "terrorists" = mere words came out of the U.S. military spokesman + quoted by the U.S. media. This is NOT a fact.

Think about it. According to the logic of those who defend such action, the U.S. can attack any country they want as long as they claim it's after "terrorists". If memory serves right, both Japan and Germany had much better excuses on their invading rampage during WWII.

I am sure many things has no explanation for normal person

but once you get to certain ideology there are justification

world might look to this justification and choose that it is rubbish and not accepted but in the mean time they lift no finger against that

In Iraq alone America statistics showed that 1 200 000 innocents were killed more than half of Iraqi population is out of Iraq

    hey

I'm a Syrian from aleppo (north). I just think that the american politics men are gone too far with their believes: "we can" is a great way to resume what they think. Georges W.BUSH has been provoking the syrian reaction for much a longer time in order to accuse Syria of terrorsim (thinking that killing un-armed civilians in abou-kamal is not terrorism) but I think that the game is no longer a secret and the syrian autorities will know exactly how to react.....

    God bless the middle East

    hi gordan

    i am from damascus syria

you look you know the truth about the Conflict in Middle East

i think that George W. Bush presidential deadline is nearing completion

He wants to provoke Syria to the start of the war with

    After the failure of policy

  • I was wondering about it too and i just asked why The U.S. is waging a war on Iraq, Afghanistan and attacking Syria and why it is giving financial support to Israel a country is responsbile for ethnic cleansing Palestinians and that has attacked Lebanon several times. The U.S. also constantly throws missiles on pakistanis killing mostly civilians. I personally believe that the U.S. is one if not "the biggest bully of our time".

I agree with the poster above me "justification we can' this is what the u.s. is doing justifying everything and completely ignoring the civilian caught in between of all this.

    Mysterys says: Justification: We can.

Does that mean when the US wants our water up here in Canada they will kick our *** if we dont just give it to them? Maybe with Barack Obama, an era of Might is Right will come to an end and the US will gain more respect internationally.

It wasn't a bombing, it was a raid.

Get your facts straight before you get on your high horse.

"An American military official said the cross-border raid by helicopter-borne special forces at al Sukkariya near Abu Kemal in N. Syria Sunday, Oct. 26 targeted “the foreign fighter network” that travels through Syria into Iraq."
