12 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhy are Filipinos not more precise?
I notice when you ask a Filipino a question, the answer is often vague. I ask my Filipina wife how much the dress costs, and she says "less than $40.", or "more than $30. I see this all the time in the Philippines and wonder if this habit of not being precise is part of the fact the Philippines lags behind other Asian countries...you guys are great and freindly, but this laid back attitude and not giving definate answers to definate questions is costing your country dearly. Before Marcos, the Philippines had the 3rd highest standard of living in Asia, after Japan and Hong Kong.
18 AnswersPhilippines1 decade agoDoes discriminating employment advertising bother you?
In trips to the Philippines, I was surprised to see "help-wanted" ads advertising positions in a variety of careers, using phrases like: must be single, over 5'2", under 25, or under 30. In Canada that is discrimination and would never be allowed to discriminate on the basis of age, race, physical height, religion, marital statud or sexual orientation. How do Filipinos feel about this, or they just accept it. In Canada we value job experience and age is not such a big deal.
9 AnswersPhilippines1 decade agoWhy does the Philippine government allow discriminatory hiring practices?
On recent trips to the Philippines, I noticed many ads in the papers looking to hire "singles, under 25, and must be over 5"1"...whatever the position, there was usually some requirement of age, or height or marital status. This is certainly against the law in Canada and I would assume in most western countries. Why do you people allow this discrimination?
9 AnswersMalaysia1 decade agoWhy does the Malaysian police and the public ignore human trafficking?
I watched a recent documentary on Dateline NBC which showed young women from the Philippines offerred restaurant jobs in Malaysia only to be later told they are forced into prostitution and their passports were held...the police were aware, yet did nothing to help until exposed by the US news crew. Malaysia has the worst record in the world to convict human traffickers
10 AnswersMalaysia1 decade agoApproximately how many Americans have appeared in a porno video? In the tens of thousands, 100's of 000's,or?
It's not only Americans, but many of the US porn sites show mostly Americans, and it's truely amazing the sheer numbers of people having sex in front of a camera. It seems like a fairly high percentage of the general population. I would appreciate any factual information as to the approximate numbers who have worked in the industry one time or another.

7 AnswersPhilippines1 decade agoChina doesn't want strict sanctions against North Korea because they don't want a flood of refugees. Comments?
China says it fears hundreds of thousands of refugees from North Korea if the country struggles too much under strict sanctions. Give me a break! If the whole population of North Korea, 22,900,000 picked up and went to China, that would still be only 1.7% of China's population of 1,300,000,000. Given Canada allows a 1% immigration rate annually, why is such an influx to China such a big deal, under the circumstance. Canadian immigration is from 240,000 to 290,000 annually in a country of only 32,000,000. It would not surprise me at all if China is complicit in the help to North Korea to obtain nuclear weapons. China even implies it doesnt want to inspect goods properly entering N. Korea. Think about our freinds in China when you make a purchase at the mall!
11 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoWhy do American tourists love to buy Cuban cigars imported to Canada when they come to Canada, but hate Cuba?
Poor little Cuba poses no threat to the Mighty USA, yet few people in the US would ever try to get thier government to lift sanctions against Cuba. Yet I have noticed hundreds of US Navy sailer boys buying Cuban cigars when they arrived in port in Victoria, BC, Canada. If Americans weren't such hippocrites, the world would like them more. Canadians get killed in "freindly fire" in Afghanistan and it's not even on the news in the US. But they know who fathered Anna Nicole Smith's illigitimate kid. Go figure......

I have an idea for an invention, but need someone with technical expertise....I have my doubts if a cat would trot along like dogs do on a teadmill...perhaps a video of a barking dog would motivate the cat, but how would you control the speed of the treadmill.
