If the bird has ANY wounds from your cat, infection will set in quickly, and the bird will need to put on antibiotics, so should be taken to a wildlife rehab. Cats carry a lot of bacteria in their saliva. If uninjured it would be best to get the bird back to it's parents, but if you have no idea where your cat got the bird, once again, the next best thing would be to get it to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival. Do not even attempt to feed the bird, you can easily drown it just by giving it water if you are not experienced. Also, you might want to consider keeping your cat inside where it can no longer harm native wildlife and where it will live a much longer, healthier life.

First taking it to a vet would be the best thing. Different species of birds eat different foods. Some birds eat insects and some eat seeds. I'm going to assume you have a fairly average type (not a hummingbird or something). I'm not sure where you live, but water can be given from an eyedropper easily. Food should be fed in small pieces or chopped up. Worms are good and can be bought cheaply at any fishing bait shop or dug up. Keeping a baby bird warm is vital. Since they have trouble making their own body heat and have no insulation until their feathers are grown out, try to rig up a light to keep it warm. Not to close to burn it's skin though. Good luck. Don't feed it or give it water. Take it straight to a wildlife rehab facility. The longer you keep it at your home, the more you lessen it's chances of survival.

Cats carry Pasturella bacteria which is DEADLY to birds and can kill within a few short days. You can't treat this at home because the treatment consists of a course of injectable antibiotics.

If you can't find a wildlife rehab, call a local vet and ask for the number and address.

You might want to keep your cat indoors so it can't go kill other animals anymore. Imagine how you'd feel if people let big cat-killing dogs out to roam and kill cats. I image some people might not think your cat getting killed is a big deal considering the fact that cats aren't on the threatened or endangered list like some of the birds they kill.

Maybe it would be best if everybody just took proper measures to protect their pets AND wildlife.

Also, by letting it out to roam, just look what you are exposing your poor cat to! -

First get him in box with a heating pad underneath the outside bottom of it. Then put tissues in box for warmth. If can make a nest out of cool whip bowl and tissue and put in there then the box. The bird can eat meal worms from pet store cut in half and hand feeding formula. If not feed it dog or cat food soaked in water with excess water blotted off and feed tiny chunks of that. Do not force water into mouth as can choke and die. Then call vet that takes in or refers wildlife to a wildlife rehabber. Any bird caught by cat needs to have antibiotics as cat saliva contains a dangerous bacteria that can kill them fast. This is free for all wildlife. They will rehab and release when ready. Birds this young should be fed every hour from sun up to sun down. Don't eat at night. Good luck. And keep cat in house or put collar on him with a bell so wildlife knows he is in area. Better for everyone involved.

Don't feed him slugs. Go to the store and pick up some baby food, like the carrots that are all mashed up. Put him under a bright light, about 6 inches above the bird. Get one of those medicine syringes, and whistle to make his mouth open. Did your cat injure it? If so, the best thing to do is to bring it to the nearest vet. Good luck!

I have had to do this many times. If you dont want to dig up worms, and I am sure you dont want to have to pop them for him to eat them, go to the store and get some regular Cheerios. Mush them up with water, and feed them to him with an eye dropper. Most of the time, the baby is out of the nest because the mother kicks him out because he is sick or to small. This will help him. Bugs are nice, but the Cheerios have more vitamins in them than bugs do. Make sure to give him water with the eye dropper too. That is important. Good luck!

unlucky is that it is the Mama chicken will in all probability no longer bypass back to this toddler. you would be able to desire to objective to %. it up with a sparkling dishtowel with a view to no longer positioned any human heady scent on the toddler. nonetheless, Mama if she does not feed it can not positioned it back into the nest. attempt, yet that's all you're able to do. do no longer take all of them to the vet, Mama chicken if she is feeding the others is the main suitable guess for them. do no longer positioned something on or close to the nest or she won't come again for the others. go away them on my own and purely watch.

Take it to a local vet or animal hospital first thing in the morning. Good luck!

Firstly, you should try not to touch it too much and

You need to make sure you keep him well fed...

VERY small pieces of bread or crumpet are good.

And for water try using a pipette to drop a small amount into it's mouth.

But make sure to get it to a vet as soon as possible...

There's something in animal saliva that can be seriously harmful to bird if they're bitten.

^_^ good luck and be gentle.

You won't "save" it if you keep it and improvise. Send it to the closest rehab center and give it a chance!
