Do Republicans really believe that the poll lead Kerry had in 2004 can be compared to Obama's poll lead?

Or are they in a sad state of denial?

Update:

Todays electoral map:

Most polls favor the Democrats. In the last two presidential elections most polls predicted Al Gore would win in 2000 and John Kerry in 2004.

In the last Presidential Election (2004) two of the most accurate polls were the George Washington University Battleground Poll and the Technometrica Institute of Policy and Politics TIPPS poll.

Currently the GW Battleground Poll shows support for Obama shrinking in the last two weeks with McCain gaining on him. Currently that has Obama ahead by 3% at Obama 48% McCain 45%

The Technometrica Institute of Policy and Politics TIPPS poll.

also has Obama ahead by only 3% with Obama at 46.5% McCain at 43.3% and 10% undecided.

The Margin of error for these polls is about 2% so the Republicans and Democrats are virtually tied at the moment

80% of Americans think the media want's Barack Obama to win.The biased media produce biased polls and then predict Obama will win.

Despite the media statements and what other less accurate polls say a McCain win is a strong possibility.

The polls practice that what maximum people who voted for Obama already comprehend...he's the extra constructive candidate because of the reality that he has the purifier record, an undemanding and sensible mind and he connects with the persons fairly than shed crocodile tears like some applicants...Clinton could boast of having extra awareness yet her awareness nevertheless led her down the direction to settling on conflict. because of the fact the final 7 years has shown, awareness isn't whats mandatory ...awareness is the foremost to a solid presidency.... Hillary chosen to pass to conflict just to pass with the pass....Obama had the get to the backside of to declare 'hell no'... for that reason, he's the only candidate that may not could wash blood off his palms to respond to the 3am cellular call...

Kerry was behind by about 2 points heading into election day. Gore and Bush were tied.

Denial or revisionist history seem to be the options here.

Obama and Kerry's maps were nearly identical in late August/early September, which is when most of the comparisons were made. Obama hasn't fallen off like Kerry did, so nobody except the uninformed really continued with those comparisons.

Looking around my area, the pollsters never polled here. There are McCain signs everywhere!

I don't believe polls. I believe what I see in person.

There is only one poll that counts and it will occur in 8 days time. My question regarding polls. Why does anybody care what the polls say? Do they effect who you choose to vote for? I personally do not have any faith polls and they do not effect my decisions one way or the other.

There are very few Republicans who really think that McCain can win. They are just talking that way because they believe in the cause.
