Will the digital coverter boxes receive digital channels anywhere?
I live in a valley, and we do not get reception here without cable, never have. I am wondering if when we switch to digital on 02/09/2009, areas like mine where we did not receive analog signal, will now pick up digital. I am not a big tv watcher, and it would be a blessing to get out from under that big cable bill every month.

Unlikely. If you got no analog TV reception, you probably won't get digital either. There are a couple of websites below where you may want to enter your address to check what signal strengths are and what antenna you need. A good antenna is mandatory.

As long as you can pick up a local tv station in analog, yes, but in your specific case I'm not sure.
Without cable, do you have any reception at all? If you do have a little, it may work, but you would have a low signal strength.
Do you use an indoor or an outdoor antenna? Maybe you could try to move your outdoor antenna to a higher elevation, if that is what you use.

Nope, sorry. only over-the air television, NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, CW, PBS and the different channels you may p.c.. up. a number of the digital channels have secondary channels. the place I stay i'm getting approximately 18 comprehensive channels from digital television, so it only relies upon the place you're at, and the way good your antenna is. in case you could no longer have adequate funds cable, it extremely isn't any longer too undesirable a thank you to bypass. some television is extra constructive than no television
