    1. all you need to do is multiply 7 three times then add the negative sign:

    -(7 x 7x 7) = -(343) = -343

    *if the negative 7 were in parenthesis then you would multiply -7 three times like -7 x -7 X -7

    2. You can't solve a negative exponent. So to get rid of it you need to made 7^-3 into a fraction of 1/7^3. That gets rid of the negative. Now you can solve. You should get 1/343
