What was more important was what not to do to your nose. Bad habits such as nose-picking, sniffing, rubbing, blowing the noses hard or stuffing things such as tissue and handkerchiefs up to the nostril can do a lot of harm to your nose. Generally, nose will take good care by itself. Physiologically, when we breathe in air in our lung, nose will warm, clean and humidify it. When we breathe out the air from our lung, it will cool and remove the water from the air.

by staying away from people and events that make my nose bleed.
The last time i allowed people hurt my nose is when I was still mingling with ******* and their ******! I ran fast and now I'm free.
Ei, the last time an event made my nose bleed is when I watched Stephen Chow's undubbed version of Shaolin Soccer. I was speaking Chinese for a week or two, really nose-bleeding!(moral lesson: don't buy pirated DVD)
Source(s): BTW, i read someplace that a person's protection from these depends entirely on his nose' shape (and size!) the more "pango" the better (or words to that effect. - chinamanLv 51 decade ago
Aside from the normal cleaning method, you couldn't do much. What you breathe in goes straight to your lungs, technically if there is pollution your nose can only function so much to filter the air.

Just remember:
You can pick your friends
You can pick your nose
You can even pick your friend's nose
But you can't pick your relatives
But maybe your relatives can pick your nose.
