How to prevent dog from opening doors?

My 18 month GS has figured out how to open closed doors such as bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. I've noticed teeth prints on the door knobs but he won't open doors while anyone is watching. He goes in kitchen and tears up garbage cans or climbs on table to bark out window. He enters my daughter's room and steals her stuffed animals and barbie dolls. He doesn't destroy them he just brings them back to his bed and keeps them until she comes looking for the. Once she does, the game of chase starts. He goes in bathroom and stands in tub. In there he steals the soap or body puffs. How can I prevent him from opening doors and if you know how can we eliminate the "Chase" game?

thanks in Advance

Update:

We have tried crating but he can get out of that too.

Update 2:

He aslo likes the taste of the bitter apple spray. This dog is an odd one!

Update 3:

He also does it when we are here. In fact he just brought Barbie and laid her at my feet, then went and took a nap

Update 4:

I like that hook/eye idea. I'll mention it to my husband when he comes in from work. Thanks! I knew someone here would help. You all did great!

The cheapest solution is to install a hook/eye combo on the doors. High enough that he can't reach them.

At many stores they have little covers you can put over the doorknobs that are made to prevent toddlers from opening doors, but they would probably work quite well in this case too. You could also try spraying the door handles with something like bitter apple spray.

crate train him. obviously he is doing this when you're not home. The other thing you can do,is there are things on the market to keep toddlers from opening doors- see if those would help. They are white plastic and you put them on the doorknobs. Alternatively, you could install slidingl ocks on each door, but that's a pain.

Crate him when you cannot watch him or before you leave your home. When he is confined he cannot do any damage. Make sure that you keep an eye on him while he is roaming. Prevention is easier than curing.

you could crate him or there are products you can put over your door knobs that "child proof" (and in your case "dog proof") so that they cannot be opened as easily

    something like this:

He is single. Thats why he is opening the door. He need marrage. After the marrage he will not open the door and always he will close the door.

THE LITTLE ROUND COVER FOR DOOR KNOBS DO NOT WORK EITHER. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND BOUGHT THOSE AND SHE PULLED THEM OFF AND GOT INTO MY ROOM
