How to uninstall Windows Media Player with Vista?

My teenage daughter installed windows media player onto my computer (without my consent) and now I cannot find a way to uninstall it. It's obviously on my computer, yet when I go to the control panel to uninstall it, I cannot find it as an option. I absolutely hate windows media player and want it off of my computer, not to mention that I have no idea if she found it from a safe site or not. How can I uninstall it?

Update:

***To answer the question, I hate it because it is slow to load and even slower to close out and sometimes can lock up when you try to close it. Also, it doesn't always allow you to open multiple song files like winamp does. It forces you to create a playlist when all you want to do is list to a bunch of songs. That's why I hate it. I only wanted to get rid of it because it keeps changing my settings so that all of my songs, by default open with it. I only want to open them with winamp.

Usually most of the software you install has an uninstall option in the program menu from where you can easily uninstall the software, but with some softwares like Windows Media Player 11 and Internet Explorer 7 it is not the case.

Recently one of my readers asked me how to uninstall the Windows Media Player 11, which in itself is not a straight forward task as it is does not have an uninstall option present unlinke most of the other softwares.

Performing the steps listed below you can remove any Windows Software updates that have been installed on your computer, including Internet Explorer 7 and any other updates.

Its a quite simple process and do this you will have to open the Add / remove program option from Control Panel.

Once you are in the Add / Remove Program section you will see a list of programs that have been installed on your computer

Windows Media Player is part of windows Vista. It has not been separately downloaded - it is included in Vista right out of the box.

You cannot uninstall it because it is part of the operating system. (hence no uninstall option in control panel.)

Why do you hate it? (curious)

    Its just a media player.....

Windows Media Player comes with Windows, and cannot be removed through normal means. It was already on your system; your daughter just enabled the shortcuts for it.

Since it won't come off when you got to Add/Remove. Try this go to start then run and type in regedit. When it opens up select HKEY_Local_Machine next Go to edit and type in Windows Media Player when you find it right click and delete it. But you have to rebot your pc using F8 on keyboard.

She didn't install it. It comes with the computer. You can't get rid of it unless you want to mess up your computer. Well the operating system.
