If the guy who married you wasn't ordained, then he couldn't and didn't legally marry you so you are therefore not legally married.

I'd go into your courthouse where you got your marriage license and let them know that you just found out the guy who "married" you wasn't actually qualified, and get their input.

I'm guess you're trying to get out of the marriage. If you have a state marriage certificate you need a lawyer who can go to court for you and prove it's invalid

you don't have to be ordained to marry people

for example marriages may be performed by: a judge, a court clerk, a justice of the peace

also, marriage laws differ by state

see the link below for details about the state where you were (maybe) married

That varies by state. Sometimes the state will declare it valid if the papers have been filed, fees paid, and records entered in the books.

Go to your courthouse and tell them your dilemma. Only your local courthouse can answer this for you.

I would say yes - prove it with your state marriage certificate.

I had this problem.Go to the courthouse or city hall in the county or city you were married in if you are really married it will be on record.

That would make your certificate in void I'm afraid. But nothing a quick trip to Vegas can't fix. ;D

I'd contact your state office or a lawyer to be sure. If I were you, I'd remarry with a legit clergy or courthouse judge.
