My mom bought me a Boppy feeding pillow - was it worth the $40?

I've heard that it is a great product (but every product is a "great" product lol) but I wanted a more realistic view from ppl on Y!A.

I told her that she didnt have to get it for me nad that if I wanted a $40 pillow I would buy it and she didn't have to... but she came home with it anyway! :)

Was it worth the money?

Update:

I live in New Mexico :) It was actually $36.00

Update 2:

Yes - I will be breastfeeding.

Are you planning on nursing the baby? It's worth its weight in gold for breastfed babies. It'll help you support the child while you're nursing and trying different ways to get the baby's best suck.

I used to sell those at a children's shop 13 years ago. They would never stay on the shelf long...moms loved them.

I Never Used Mine For Feeding. After I Had My Son, The Boppy Pillow Was Great To Sit On. Sitting On A Falt Surface Hurt My Episiotomy. After That, I'd Just Lay The Baby In There. Mine Wasn't $40 Though. They Have Some At Wal-Mart For $20. I Think They Are Useful, But You Can Easily Live Without One.

Nursing pillows are a must have as far as I'm concerned. If something is sold specifically for babies, the price tag seems to go up... we bought a cheap, V-shaped pillow for £7 from a bedding store and it was just as good as the boppy feeding and support pillow a friend lent me later on.

First where do you live? That is so expensive! Your boppy better be made of gold, here in WI they are around 26 to 30 dollars. To answer your ? they are really nice to have, they conform to your body during feeding times very well, better than pillows since pillows seem to slip and slide around. They are nice to help prop baby up in a sitting postition as well. It depends on how often you use it, if you use it all the time then yes it was worth the money. Congrats!

For me no it wasnt worth the money. I read on here how wonderful they are so I thought I would get one. Well my daughter was already 3 months old when I got it and it was just big and awkward to use when nursing. I never use mine at all as I would rather just prop a pillow under my arm and let her rest her head on that. I also never lie her in it because she cant roll around when she is in it and its best for a baby to be able to roll around and kick there little legs its how they get their exercise. Also I dont sit her in it because she falls forward rather then backwards when she sits and so it dosnt help at all.

But this is just my experience. Maybe it would be more comfortable to use for a littler baby. My friend has one and she loves hers. So it could go either way for you I guess. Hope you do find a use for it if not just sell it on ebay

I think so-Wal Mart sells a generic version for $20 that I was planning on getting but I went to a baby thrift store and got a brand new real Boppy for $7!

I spent about the same on my breastfeeding pilow (essentially a Boppy, but different brand) - and have used it every day since my now 1 year old was still a newborn.

I definitely got my money's worth out of it.

definitely worth it. you can sit it on your lap to have the baby lay on top of it while you breast feed. or bottle feed. or the baby can just lay in it on your lap and then your arms can rest on the boppy. which is more comfortable for you than having your arms propped up by pillows. or you can even put it on the floor or bed or couch and lay the baby in it (while he/she is still a newborn and can't roll out of it yet).

I liked to use mine to prop up our son when he was too young to sit up on his own...and I'd also put him on his tummy with his arms over it to keep his head from becoming flat. I used it to nurse him for a very short time- but he was just such a big baby, and I had a c-section, so it wasn't comfortable.

I probably used it more to prop baby up on the couch beside me, but every once in awhile used it while nursing. You CAN do without it though.
