So do you think it is your civic duty to vote? ?

Many people think their vote won't matter, why should I vote, or my vote will cancel out my wife's vote so I won't vote, or I will spoil my ballot by marking two candidates. What is your idea about whether or not everyone should vote?

If everybody voted for the candidate they really wanted we would see a huge change in this country. We have so many bad people elected because most people do not vote. It irks me that people do not vote when there are countries out there where the people are going to war so they can vote. People died so we could vote.

Yeah it is absolutely civic duty to vote, but it is also your civic duty to be informed of who you vote for. You should be able to defend your positions why you are voting the way you are. If you are voting for something know why it would be bad for it not to pass and the same if you are voting against something find out how it would change existing law if it were passed and be able to articulate it clearly. I believe everyone has the right to vote but it really scares me that some people who are legally voting can't even figure out how to fill out an election ballot. Even if you cancel out your wife's vote your vote still counts as a cancellation. In saying that I think people who are on welfare should not be allowed to vote because they will probably only be voting themselves a paycheck. Naturally illegal aliens should not be allowed to vote and people should have a certain aptitude test to be able to vote. If you don't know how to color in a mark and not color in the wrong one or if you punch a ballot in the wrong place and don't know it you should not be given the privilege to vote until you are capable of completing the task without regret.

Absolutely!!!!!!! People get the government they deserve. George Bush won the 2000 Presidential election by about 300 votes. If 400 more people in Florida had gone out and voted for Al Gore, we might not be in the mess we are in now.

  • Some people I know wont vote because the Media has already projected the winner by a good margin. However, I think they are missing out on voting for state and local issues, so it is a pathetic way to be.

Yes I do think it's my civic duty to vote. But I'll be a monkeys uncle if I know who to vote for this time. I don't like any one that's running.

If you don't vote, then you don't have the right to complain about current/previous administration(s).
