What is your favorite quote?

Recently my Grandmother died. I was told by my a cousin that she was buried a few plots away from famous playwright August Wilson. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_Wilson . On his grave stone it said "You are wherever you are, I'm here."

I thought it was a nice bit of graveyard humor and it instantly became one of my favorite quotes.

So now I ask you what are your favorite quotes. They can be from anywhere. Just tell us why you like it and what it means to you.

    All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.

    It is profound & it gives me hope.

    Jon, I am very sorry to hear about your grandma.

    I agree that the grave stone quote is pretty funny. My favorite quote isn't related but one that I made up.

    "normal guys are about as common as abominable snowmen and loch ness monsters...they are a myth and some people believe they exist, but i've yet to come across one!"

    A friend on facebook was asking if there was such thing as a normal guy, so it seemed appropriate.

    I love quotes. My all time favorite is Gandhi..."Be the change that you want to see in the world"

    Basically, it just says it all to me.

    Today , a friend turned me on to a new one by Plato.. (well new to me :)

    "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."

    I like this one a lot; I think we get so wrapped up in our own hustle and bustle sometimes that we forget to give each other a break.

    Sorry about your grandmother. That is a cool quote.

  • Not I quote but I would love this to be written on my grave:

    Do not stand at my grave and weep.

    I am not there. I do not sleep.

    I am a thousand winds that blow;

    I am the diamond glints on snow.

    I am the sunlight on ripened grain;

    I am the gentle Autumn’s rain.

    When you awaken in the morning’s hush.

    I am the swift uplifting rush

    Of quiet birds in circled flight.

    I am the soft star that shines at night.

    Do not stand at my grave and cry.

    I am not there;

    I did not die.

    This is one of the best poems,I live by this one..

    This be the verse-Philip Larkin

    They **** you up, your mum and dad.

    They may not mean to, but they do.

    They fill you with the faults they had

    And add some extra, just for you.

    But they were ****** up in their turn

    By fools in old-style hats and coats,

    Who half the time were soppy-stern

    And half at one another's throats.

    Man hands on misery to man.

    It deepens like a coastal shelf.

    Get out as early as you can,

    And don't have any kids yourself

    I place a high moral value on the way people behave. I find it repellent to have a lot, and to behave with anything other than courtesy in the old sense of the word - politeness of the heart, a gentleness of the spirit.”

    Sorry to hear about your grandmother,

    Some of my favourites are:

    - Many people walk in and out of our lives, but only true friends leave footprints in our hearts!<33

    - I like my meat so rare, that when I poke it, it still says ''moooo''.

    - I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

    - You're just jealous that we act retarted in public, and people still love us!

    - I smile because I have no idea what's going on. :) :) :)

    - People who don't know me, think I'm quiet. People who know me, wish I was.

    - Goodluck in finding best friends... I've already got the good ones. ;)

    xx Ally.

    "Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering.”

    Sh!t happens- It is seriously the truest thing ever! No matter how many quotes people make, they can't beat the truth, straight out.

    But it is pretty positive, I mean sh!t happens all the time, so get over it and be happy!
