Should I believe my brother?

He is retired Air Force, worked uncovering unsavory characters in the branch. He tells me that it ironic that Obama would be running because he could not pass the security clearance requirements of the government due to his affiliations.

Its just when you say "security clearance requirements of the government" I think of Jeff Gannon, who cleared all the Government Clearance requirements for the white house. This isn't actually meant to be a Pro anybody stance, just saying who is calling the kettle black, I think if you look at the affiliations of the Administration closely the last 8 years, you would say WOW!!

No you should not. People just do not apply for a clearance. They have to apply for a job that requires a clearance. The U.S Senate does not, therefore he have never applied for a clearance. But as a candidate, he was vetted. Oh yeah the president doesn't have to have clearance either, if so G.W Bush would not have been elected on the ground of his reserve record.

    Source(s): Someone with a clearance.

    Seems like an oxymoron...

How if he didnt pass the security clearance is he able to take the top office?

Do they NOT do a security clearance for that seat?

  • 1 decade ago

Yep. He couldn't do any job that required a background check. It's sad that he can't get security clearance that a lot of regular Americans can easily get and he may be our next president. That is frightening, isn't it?

It's true, Obama wouldn't be given a security clearance. That just a fact.

Nope, that is not true. First of all Obama has no criminal record, second nor does any of his affiliations. The ability to pass security clearance is not based on right wing banter or left wing banter. Of all the candidates, Palin could have trouble because she has been found to be in an ethical violation, but she too would probably pass.

Your brother is right. I heard a security expert on the news saying the same thing this morning.

Your brother is correct, Mr. Obama would not meet qualifications for many Goverment jobs.
