What is "cool"? And what is wrong/bad about trying to be "cool"?
There are 2 girls I know in my Uni course, let's call them Sarah and Lisa. And one time during the Mid Year holidays, I was hanging around Lisa and her high school friends for a short while, and in the conversation she said she hated Sarah.
I asked her why, and she said that Sarah "tries to be cool". She said she and her friends already knew about it coz they went to her high school.
Why is it hateful/despicable to "try to be cool", but it's ok to already be cool?!
And what do they mean by "cool"? Do they mean well known/recognized, or liked by everybody?

Trying to be cool means phony, being cool is being yourself. It is always good to be yourself, that way you will naturally attract people who like the way you are.
Cool means you are trying to be more important, funnier, or even more knowledgeable than you actually are.
