Lighting Temp (You plant guys)?

I'm thinking about starting up my planted tank again. I have all the equipment, but my light is burned out and I need to get a new bulb. My choices are to get a 5500K bulb (Early Morning colorish), 6700K (Mid afternoon), or 7800K which is a bit bluer than the 6700K.

Which of these is going to be closest to the color that the standard Perfecto Strip puts out? OR which of these is going to make the fish/plants look best? They're all equally recommended for plant growth.

Different plants require different lighting specs. So, you should first decide what kind of plants you would like, than research the spectrums that are best suited for them.

You also have to consider tank size and wattage your strip can handle.

I typically go for the double 6700K T-5 bulbs in my 90+gallon tanks, and go 5500K T-8(Standard) in my 55 gallon or less tanks.

    Source(s): Keep freshwater planted tanks.

If they're all equal in giving the right nutrients for plant growth, it doesn't depend on our opinions, it depends on yours. Ask the person in the store where you are getting the bulbs to see them, and how they look. I am pretty sure they will be able to show you, it only takes ten seconds each.

    I say 6700K.
