How confident are you that the votes will be counted accurately next Tuesday?
A PBS poll finds that 84% of the people answering the poll are either not confident or only somewhat confident. And of that 84%, 60% were in the "not confident" category.
I realize that this is not a scientific poll, but the dramatic loss of confidence in the accuracy of the vote is telling. I think a real scientific poll would find that the numbers weren't quite as bad but would still be terrible in a country that rightfully claims and proclaims the importance and value of each vote.
If you care to add a follow-up, what do you think are the largest factors in "shaking the confidence" and what can be done to restore the confidence in the vote?

i think the fact that dead people can vote in the election has really lost my confidence in it. i think the fact that they had those hanging chad votes has lost my confidence in it. i think the fact that most people dont fully understand how the electoral college works anymore (by the way anybody know how to get a job working there? ....just randomly wondering!) has shaken the confidence of them. people are worried if the popular vote will win out in the end (we've had problems in the past haven't we?). i'm personally worried the results will be tainted one way or the other! i'm worried that if obama doesnt win people will be outraged again (like the hanging chad incident) and demand a recount until they get the answer they want, or that it will be spun that the government doesnt like black people or whatever, if he loses the election. and if mccain loses and obama wins people are gonna say that they are cheating, and blah blah blah because the media is unfair towards mccain and too nice to obama right now, etc. etc. and that they only had him win because of his skin color to try and show we aren't racist. race really shouldn't have anything to do with it. but either side will say thats the reason why obama won or lost, and wont consider that the results might be what the people honestly want, etc. etc. so yes i'm not so confident in the accuracy of tuesdays results.

No it won't count quantity different than interior the known vote. we don't decide on the President; the EC does. If the EC ends at 269 to 269 (as this one might desire to) then the Democrat Congress will solid the vote. God have mercy on our united states of america and her human beings if this did happen.

Not very. Frankly, the thought of what might occur on Tuesday is scaring the crap out of me. Hopefully they can get it right. That would restore my confidence.

A lot more confidently than if we were living in Zimbabwe, Venezuela, Russia, Belarus, etc.

I am not sure that they have ever been counted accurately. This is going to be the worst year ever. The voter fraud started early in this election.

Computers are just machines, they can't think. If they are simply allowed to do their job, there will be no problem. However, fraud is a legitimate concern.
